The Otter tends to run anemic. To counteract it, he now gets 2 tsp. of Lixotinic (Pet Tinic's the same thing) daily. It's a heavy dark syrupy liq. vit. that's full of iron. When it popped up again a few months ago, I also supplemented with 1/8 cup of cooked liver daily for about a week (can't go too heavy with the liver when you're dosing with the Lix.). Within a month, we tested again and it was under control.

If you try the supplement and it helps, use KV Vet Supply to purchase. I'm paying about $49 for a gallon (free shipping) vs. $10 for a 1/2 cup bottle from the vet. I just transfer it to a smaller dark amber bottle from a pharmacy & store the gallon in a cool, dark place. Lasts a long time.
