Comments: My husband and I adopted Kelsey from the APS when she was just 10 weeks old and since that time, our lives have changed dramatically. Kelsey is just so much fun! Her favorite things to do include her nightly "walkie," swimming over the waves in the ocean, chasing squirrels, playing with any of her cuddly toys and snuggling up to Mom at night. Oh, yes, and she just loves it when she can get to the tennis ball before her little sister (also a rescue pup - Border Collie/lab mix) Molly can. Kelsey is very appreciative of all of the information she's getting from this caring support group!
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Pharaoh Hound Mix
Sex: Male
Age Diagnosed w/Addison's: 2 years old
Comments: Tide lives in sunny California and just loves to chase frisbees and play in the ocean. We adopted him from CARE when he was 8 weeks old and immediately fell in love. Tide went through a lot before his eventual AD diagnosis, but since then he has made remarkable progress and is now back
to being the happy puptart that he was before!!
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
Sex: Male
Age Diagnosed w/Addison's: 5 years old
Comments: We just found out that Sherman has Addison's. Unfortunately, three vets missed the diagnosis and he almost died. In desperation, I went on the internet to the "Ask Jeeves" site and started entering my dog's symptoms...and found Addisons. I immediately returned to my vet and had Sherman tested...the vet was amazed when it was positive. The internet saved Sherman's life!
He's been on DOCP for two months and is doing great!
Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix
Sex: Female
Age Diagnosed w/Addison's: 11 months old
Comments: Besides herding sheep, Belou enjoys eating, sleeping, walking, running, chewing, snorting, rolling, scratching, sniffing, licking, yoga, peeing, chasing tennis balls or her cat Mimi, and drinking out of the toilet. She is a very happy girl in spite of her neurotic mother.
Breed: English Springer Spaniel
Sex: Female
Age Diagnosed w/Addison's: 3 years, 7 months old
Comments: Dixie is practically our child, so we are very glad that AD is treatable! She was also diagnosed with Masticatory Myositis at the age of 10 months. She's the sweetest and most fun dog my husband and I have ever had!
